The first Pātaka in Aotearoa – New Zealand

in partnership with Foodstuffs New Zealand

Providing food and supplies for Te Hiku (Far North) whānau, with contributions from whānau and the community.

Te Hiku Pātaka is a place to manaaki and support whānau of the Far North. A place where local whānau, communities and iwi contribute to support the Pātaka.

Te Hiku Pātaka opens to a packed house

With food and petrol at an all-time high, Te Kahu Oranga Whānau (collaboration of Te Whare Ruruhau o Meri, Waitomo Papakāinga, Te Rarawa Rūnanga and Tuhiata Mahiora) teamed up with Foodstuffs and opened the country’s very first Pātaka Māori.

It's a dream and aspiration to have kai sovereignty in Te Hiku o Te Ika

Te Hiku Pātaka is where whānau will exercise their choices of their kai and supplies, and experience being served and supported with dignity, respect and aroha.
